Field Trip

Yesterday was a banner day. I was able to leave the hospital on a "pass". I ate dinner at home with my family. It felt good to be home even for an hour or two. I went to Jackson's baseball game at Gene Autry Field. We had a family and friend gathering at the field. Sara's brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and parents came to the game. It was awesome. It was great to see and smell the baseball field. Jackson's team won and the boys gave me a game ball signed by all of them. It was great to watch them play and see family and friends. I slept great last night. I made sure the docs knew that.

Jackson's team plays Thursday for the championship and I already got the green light to go. The doctors set a discharge date for June 18. It is three days past my goal of being home by Father's Day weekend but I will take it.

More later

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out to the crowd,
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks, I don't care if I ever get back!

That song has a whole new meaning for you now! I'm glad you had such a wonderful adventure! You may make your Father's Day goal yet...prove the doctors wrong, I know you can!

Good Luck to all for the championship game. They will have the best "peanut gallery" in town I'm sure!!

Take care... gotta go!

Shane,

I have the great priviledge of being a part of your family. It has been amazing witnessing your recovery over the past 7 weeks. The unfolding of daily miracles on your behalf and literally seeing prayers answered has been humbling. Your courage, determination and positive attitude has inspired all of those involved with your recovery, especially your family. It was literally heartwarming so see grown men shed tears of gratitude as you took to the field.

Your recovery has been a wonderful opportunity for many of us to serve you and your family. It would be impossible to count all of the random acts of kindness and service you have given to your family, friends, clients and ward members throughout the years. You are loved more than you can comprehend...by so many....

You keep working hard...you have the prayers, love and support of a very large army....

The next step is almost here...coming home.. and what a homecoming that will be.

Love
Carla

Fantastic!!! We are so happy for your continued progress and that you were able to go to Jack's baseball game! I'm sure it meant the world to your family to have you there. Congratulations! I can not imagine all the work you are doing each day---keep on keepin' on! BTW- Once you are home, your lovely wife deserves a much needed Girls Day Out (or Girls MONTH Out for that matter!) She is a trooper if I've ever met one! You are all in our prayers.
